The tornado warnings in Atlantic and Ocean counties in New Jersey are no longer in effect on Wednesday night.

Earlier Wednesday, a tornado warning in New Castle County, Delaware, expired at around 9:15 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect across much of the Philadelphia region for Wednesday evening.

That watch has expired for part of the region, but it's still in effect until midnight for Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey.

A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect Wednesday for the chance of severe storms between 5 p.m. and midnight.

We had a flood watch on Tuesday, and another one is in place for the entire area until 2 a.m. Thursday. Heavy rainfall associated with some of the stronger storms, combined with the already saturated ground from recent rains, poses a threat for more flooding.

Wednesday evening, NEXT Weather Alert, damaging winds and heavy rain possible from 5 p.m. to midnight, could cause wind damage and flash flooding

The following flash flood warnings are in effect:

  • Burlington and Mercer counties in New Jersey and Philadelphia and Bucks counties in Pennsylvania until 1 a.m. Thursday morning
  • New Castle County, Delaware; Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties in New Jersey; and Delaware County, Pennsylvania; until 12:30 a.m. Thursday
  • Chester and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania until 12 a.m. Thursday

The storms Wednesday night will slowly dissipate into early Thursday morning with more afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible again Thursday. This active pattern with afternoon showers and storms will likely continue through at least the weekend, but by Saturday and Sunday, coverage of the storms looks to be a little less than what we will see through the second half of the week.
