Grass Valley first responders rescue dog that had washed down creek
GRASS VALLEY – A tired and wet dog was rescued by officers and firefighters from a tiny island along a Grass Valley creek Wednesday morning.
Grass Valley police say, around 7 a.m., someone flagged an officer down to report that there appeared to be a dog stuck in the creek near Bank and Tinloy streets.
Officers say the dog was wet and shivering, having apparently washed down the creek from somewhere upstream.
Police officers and firefighters from the Grass Valley Fire Department worked together to rescue the dog, lowering down a ladder to the small island where the dog was cowering. The first responders then went down and got the dog, bringing the pup back up to safety.
The dog was first warmed up in a patrol car before being taken to the Grass Valley shelter to recover.
It's unclear if the dog had an owner.
