$50K Reward Offered For Suspect In Fatal Stabbing Of Venice Father

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — City Council Friday approved a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for murdering a 24-year-old father.

Guillermo Carmona-Perez was found lying in the street stabbed in the chest around 12:15 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Pacific Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police believe Perez, who worked two jobs as a cook, left work, stopped for a pack of beer and was walking down Washington Boulevard towards his home at the time of the attack.

He was transferred to UCLA Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

"Guillermo's murder is a disturbing and horrific crime and a tragedy for his family, friends and the entire Venice community," Councilmember Mike Bonin said. "Our neighborhoods will be safer once the person or people responsible for this crime are off the streets, and this reward will hopefully help the LAPD as we seek justice for Guillermo."

Perez was engaged and had a 13-month-old son who he worked two jobs to provide for, his fiance said.

Bonin's reward motion was requested by the LAPD, and the City Council approved it unanimously.

"Someone may have seen something and not know that they had seen something, and perhaps if they see Guillermo's face that may trigger something," Bonin said.
